Multi-Cultural Mini-Activities
Mini Activity 1, Art + Math: Optical Cube- This Mini-Activity offers students a chance to improve their Mathematical skills while creating a cube that appears to move in and out. Students will apply their knowledge of light and value along with complimentary colors in this project!
Mini Activity 2, Art + History: Artist Trading Cards- In this Mini-Activity, students are introduced to a form of sharing art that can be done locally and even globally. Students will engage in a new technique to create Artist Trading Cards that uses a collage technique while learning about the qualities of foreground, middle ground and background.
Mini Activity 3, Art + Science: Color Breakdown- Here students will be able to engage in the scientific process while
discovering the color breakdown of a variety of colors. Students will do an
experiment to learn how to mix colors.
Mini Activity 4, Art + Literature: Aboriginal Art- This Mini-Activity has students engage in higher level thinking and transforming ideas into symbols. Students learn about Aboriginal artworks and create their own using primary colors.
Mini Activity 5, Art + Literature: Surreal Idioms- This Mini-Activity also encourages students to think outside the box and turn an idiom into a surreal illustration while using figure ground relationships, foreground/background and positive/negative space to create visual intrigue.
Mini Activity 6, Art + History: Propaganda Art- This Mini-Activity offers students an opportunity to get their message out! Students learn about propaganda/wartime art and create some of their own works using a silhouette and cut paper technique.
